Support Worker (Permanent Full-time)

St John of God Halswell is a residential facility with hospital level nursing and care for people with physical and neurological disabilities.  Based in central Halswell we offer permanent, or semi-permanent residential living.  Our residents are funded by ACC or Te Whatu Ora and our recruitment requirements are guided by our Clinical Management Team, based on their expert assessments. In addition to the 60-bed residential facility, and under the same roof, we have a rehabilitation division specialising in neurological conditions, such as stroke, Traumatic Brain Injuries and spinal injuries.  The rehabilitation team consists of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, Speech Language Therapist, psychologists and social workers, together with pastoral care and support staff.  For some of our residents, St John of God Halswell can be their home for life, but for others it can be a transitional therapy unit supporting people with neurological disabilities to return to homes in the community.

We are looking for a Level 4 Support Worker with a minimum of three years' experience working with people with neurological disabilities. This is a senior, permanent full-time role with varying shifts covering weekdays, weekends and night shifts.  

In this role you will:

  • Under the guidance of the Registered Nurse Unit Manager, you will support residents to lead engaging and fulfilling lives.
  • Follow each individual care plan that enables residents in their health and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with the Activities and Rehabilitation Team to support residents to achieve lifestyle goals and community connections.
  • Continue to achieve NZQA Health and Wellbeing Certificate levels with support of your manager and Workforce Development team.

About You

The ideal person for our team is invested in supporting people and must have good communication skills. Other skills and experience that are highly preferred are:

  • Caregiving at hospital level, with a minimum of 3 years' experience
  • New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing minimum level 4
  • Experience supporting people living with neurological conditions such as Huntington's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Cerebral Palsy, Stroke, and traumatic brain injuries.

  • Experience supporting people living with conditions like Huntington's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Cerebral Palsy, Stroke, and people living with brain injuries.

General Manager Mission Integration (Part-Time)

St John of God Hauora Trust is a Catholic not-for-profit organisation. We are seeking a quality Mission Executive to promote and further develop the leadership capacity and capability of leadership for Mission among our senior leaders and managers in St John of God Hauora Trust’s Services.

Based in Christchurch and reporting to the CEO, this is a permanent role working 20 hours per week and requires a practising Catholic with strong leadership skills, capable of working with a diverse range of stakeholders to integrate Mission within organisational culture.

The General Manager Mission Integration is responsible for Pastoral Services, as well as, developing, presenting and facilitating formation programmes for all employees of St John of God Hauora Trust as well as the Board. The successful candidate will have a track record of implementing formation programmes as well as an understanding and strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

 All applicants to demonstrate the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (preferably post-graduate) in Theology, Scripture, Ethics, Ministry or related studies.
  • Ability to influence organisation culture and lead Mission integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop the leadership abilities of senior leaders and managers to align with, and promote, organisational Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of key theological principles to all aspects of Mission aligned leadership.

Registered Nurse (Full-Time, 6-months Fixed-Term)
